"Little Boys and Puppy Dogs"
No temptation has seized you except what is common to
man.  And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted
beyond what you can bear.  But when you are tempted, he will
also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
                                             ~1 Corinthians 10:13~

Little boys and puppy dogs. What a combination.  They are just a ball of combustible
energy waiting to ignite feeding off the others energy.

This I know for a fact.  I have a little boy and a puppy dog one runs through the house
and the other is quickly trailing.  If the curiosity of one doesn’t get them into trouble then
it is the cleverness of the other.

“Mom can a favor I ask you?”  the five year old bounced into the room and up to my
desk. The order that exploded into the room almost knocked me off of my chair and truly
I did not care about the favor.

“What on earth?”  I grabbed my nose.

“Mom, I really need a favor.”

“You need a bath!”  I continued holding my nose.

“No, really Mom, how do you get skunk off of dogs?”

“What?” I squealed

I marched one little boy to the bathtub and one little dog to the patio to await a trip to the
groomer.

The story that emerged from him was one of great temptation, a temptation that he nor
the puppy could ignore.  “But Mom it had a black and white tail and Duke Wayne (the
puppy)and me never seen anything that purdy and I jest said, ‘Duke Wayne fetch’ and
Duke Wayne wouldn’t fetch.  So, I got mad at Duke Wayne and I threw a stick form him to
go after and said ‘Fetch!’  He still didn’t wouldn’t go.  I didn’t know why he was being so
stubborn, it was so purdy and all and I really wanted to see it so, I jest got on the ground
and crawled over to the fence and then I snuck up to the hole where it when in and jest
as it started to walk out where I could get a good look Duke Wayne jumped on me and
started barking and I said, “stop Duke Wayne!”  And then all of a sudden there was a
great big stink!”

This is a very simplistic way of describing temptation.  For adults we are tempted to leave
one digit off of the tax return, to forget to tell the boss about a phone call, to eat triple-
fudge-brownie-cake instead of sugar free jell-o, to commit adultery.   Temptation comes
in many packages sometime unrecognizable packages but God is always with us and He
is faithful to us.  Turn and ask God for help.  Do not be tempted with pride God knows
you to the inner core and He will provide you with answers and a way out so that you can
stand up under the temptation.

God knows that temptation is so innate to man that He included temptation in the “Lords
Prayer” the model of all prayers.
Our Father,
which art
in heaven

Hollowed by your name.
Thy kingdom come, in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread.
And forgive us
our trespasses
As we forgive
those who trespass
against us  And
lead us not into
temptation; But
deliver us from evil:
For thine is the
kingdom,  and the
power, and the
glory, for ever.
Amen
